Description / Comments
The protagonist is a poor unfortunate girl who lost both of her parents and forced to live an a hellhole of an orphanage where she’s constantly taken advantage of and abused by everyone else. On the day before she was to be sold to a “special customer” by the creepy granny that runs the place, she ran away only to meet an even crazier woman who is talking about an “otome game”, a “protagonist”, and a ton of other crazier shit. The crazy lady apparently got sucked into the world of her favorite game decades ago and had to struggle and wait for decades until the heroine finally was born and could start progressing the plot for real. In that time period she siphoned her blood into a rock for the sole purpose of trying to transfer her soul into the body of the heroine (the protagonist) after killing her, however due to a botched process the protagonist got a small portion of the crazy lady’s memories and ends up murdering her instead. Now that the protagonist has some of the lady’s memories along with her own she’ll have to survive in this crazy world alone.
A pretty cool work featuring an anti-heroine for a protagonist, and closer to an actual villain than most villainesses despite being the original “heroine” in an otomege. She is still on the side of justice more often than not but won’t hesitate to kill anybody that gets in her way.
It does still have the otome game skill/stats system that is pretty common but it tends to not particularly focus on that, instead focusing on the characters and the protagonist’s journey.
There are quite a lot of fight scenes in this work, yet it manages to make every single one of them very engaging while remaining very clear and easy to follow. You can tell exactly what all of the characters are doing, plan to do, and the fights have a relatively realistic/grounded feel to them ending quickly and suddenly without a ton of fantasy mumbo jumbo or excessive skill use.
