Description / Comments
Protagonist reincarnates into the action rpg game he regularly played but as a background NPC, yet for some reason someone else also simultaneously reincarnated as the main character as well at the same time except that person never played the game before. So the protag decides to help out this other person by giving them all of the advice needed to clear the game and save the world. However along the way they only ever recruited a harem of buff dudes despite normally this game having tons of cute girls join the party as romanceable targets, only for him to eventually find out that the “real main protag” has been killing all of the heroines secretly since it’s not the Most Efficient way to play through the story since they only shine if you raise their intimacy levels. It turns out he wasn’t new to the game at all and was a hardcore gamer himself. In fact the “main protag” was in love with the “npc protag” (our protag) this whole time and eliminated all of the girls so he’d only look at him like a yandere since he’s the only “real” person in a world of npcs. However the “main protag” fails to kill the final boss, and the “npc protag” gets sent back in time to the beginning of the game with all of his memories intact. He then sets out on a quest to become as strong as possible before the “main protag” gets strong enough to defend himself, and kill him to prevent the long chain of insanity that is to come in the future.
The start of this work is interesting enough since the protagonist isn’t able to inherent any of the systems the “main protag” normally gets so he has to find various workarounds using the various game knowledge and everything from his past life. Engraving various restrictions onto his body in order to give him conditional buffs is a nice concept that works well for a “newgame+” setting as well. However the restrictions he chose are fairly standard/boring and don’t really amount to all that much in the end.
However the work ultimately is just koreaman blasting through everybody effortlessly while he amasses a massive harem of thirsty teenage girls who want to shove him down and have his children. Every arc is simply an excuse to increase the amount of harem candidates by one (or more) while the protag slowly trudges towards his ideal true end without committing to any one of them while continuing to lead them on.
The individual arcs themselves are entertaining enough, the protag is a fun lloyd-like that is both ultimately benevolent with his goal of saving the world but chaotic in the way he goes about solving those, including donning a joker-esque persona whenever it’s needed. It has a nice balance of humor and dramatic moments involving the infinite heroines. Honestly the main problem just stems from all of the heroines needing to be “saved” by him from their unfortunate fates one after another. There’s rarely an equal for him despite them all being super ultra powerful. Maybe his teacher/mentor could technically be an equal and maybe she’s the true relationship endgame but there’s also a really high chance she’ll continue to be a side haremette.
