Description / Comments
The protagonist was the pinnacle of epic koreaman badasses, becoming the supreme ruler of the martial sect at the ripe age of 30 accomplishing everything someone could ever do, defending his place against assassins and anything else thrown at him, until he eventually died of old age. Except for some reason he was reincarnated into some random guy, and immediately upon coming to without knowing where he is he gets slapped by what appears to be his mother, and told he’s the disgrace of the family and shunned by all. Thankfully ExpositionMan drops on in to tell the protag all about how much of a shitty person the protagonist is so that he can start righting the wrongs his previous body’s owner wrought.
This work is a pure power fantasy where the protagonist will always win, always overpower the bad guys, and bring all of the good guys to his side because he’s such a cool charismatic dude who always does the right thing. The protagonist dons countless faces as needed in order to punish the bad guys without drawing attention to himself while building up his power and lifting up all of the “good guys” to be strong enough to not die to the unforgiving world of martial arts.
The art is beautiful for both the characters and scenery, and the fight scenes are some of the best in the medium. I would almost recommend this work on the art alone if someone was interested in well-down murim-style fights, even if the outcome will always end in the protagonist winning.
The official translation has a few weird typos and missing words that make it a little awkward to read, but it’s still passable enough. There’s a few questionable word choices as well like “ronin” which may or may not actually be of japanese descent despite this being set in china(?).
