Description / Comments
Protagonist dies then reincarnates into a meme romance novel that she read in her past life where everybody dies left and right, as the despicable evil villainess who is destined to die after all of her misdeeds. Unfortunately the protag wakes up in the villainess’ body after the entire plot of the novel in a dungeon cell awaiting her inevitable death by hanging, but for some reason assassins keep on forcing her to consume poison in the cell. Yet the villainess is immune to poison and the assassins keep being dumb bakas killing themselves by testing the poison themselves afterwards. Eventually the big bad evil hot villainman comes and gives her an even more lethal poison, and frees the protag since she was “interesting”. However he almost immediately susses her out that she’s not the original villainess and is someone else in her body; Yet she manages to somehow convince him to work under him on a trial basis so she’s at least spared from her immediate fate!
I actually really like this work. The art is magnificent with tons of detail into both the backgrounds and characters with good panelling. I wish the outfits were a little nicer looking at times but they still do have a lot of texturing and effort put into them still. All of the characters have a good base level of intelligence, including the protag despite her being a ditzy airhead, that allows the plot to progress without any dumb drama getting in the way. The story has tons of really nice foreshadowing that builds upon itself continuously while still leaving room for nice surprises later on that are really entertaining to read.
The only real downside to this work is that the male lead becomes really annoying around ch60+ and never really improves again after that. However he’s the exact type of guy that certain women like, and they’re the real target demographic of this work, so you could say it’s a feature that he is acting the way that he does. He really is koreaman incarnate; super powerful, super rich, super hot, super affectionate, super passionate, super jealous, super whatever is needed to make him hot at that moment to the female demographic reading it. However he’s still a well-written character that has his own thoughts and agendas and I can understand where he’s coming from despite being written in this particular way so i’m still impressed.
